Overall solid performance; a few quirks; recommended I bought this 3 phone set at Target directly for about $70. I also considered the 5.8Ghz model (similar features but pricier) and some Panasonic multi handsets but they were almost all pricier. Our house is in a neighborhood of 1/3 acre lots so interference density is fairly low. Figured I would try the 2.4 model first to see if it works well with neighbors all using cordless and several wireless Internet signals floating around. Overall, it works well for us, I'd recommend it to others, and would buy it again. +++++PLUSSES+++++++++ Good sound, good signal, good features Physical size and shape is good; one of the reasons I like this is that even though it is small, you can cradle it comfortably; feels light but solid in your hand. Good battery life and good range Easy to set up; menu options pretty straightforward. Speakerphone is excellent. Ringer tone options are a gift for us. Several good softer options, but only 2 volume settings. We found 2 that work well for us. We'll probably buy an extra 4th handset when we decide we need one upstairs. We have 3 Apple computers all using a airport express base station for wireless networking. We have not had any interference, even though they are both on the 2.4 Ghz band. My wife decided in her post-pregnancy brain state to run one handset through the heavy duty wash cycle, and 2 rinse cycles just for fun. The waterlogged handset looked bad, but after taking it apart, 10 minutes with a hairdryer and 30 min in our dryer's drying rack on low heat, all the condensation was gone. It would turn on but not work properly. But we charged it overnight and the next morning it was perfect. We expect it to die, but pretty impressive that it could recover with minimal drying effort on our part. We recover car key remotes this way, too. --------MINUSES---------- Some other reviews discuss the buttons. Here is the deal. The SIZE of the buttons is fine, but they are both small-ish AND high profile so it seems like they are "too small". A better design would have been to leave them flush with the case (like our cell phones, the buttons on which are even smaller, but don't SEEM small because there is plenty of space around them.) Room Monitor: works very well, but when you activate it, the phone that "listens" rings this horribly loud ring that you cannot control in the menu. Uniden obviously did not give parents a chance to test because with our light sleeping kids we would like to turn on the room monitor without having to sound a fire alarm in our house. Also, because these have a "directlink" mode that allows them to behave like walkie-talkies away from the base, I assumed we could take them to a friend's house and use them as room monitors there. But, no - room monitor feature has to use the base. Direct link does not. But room monitor and direct link cannot be used together. Bummer. Backlight should stay on while phone is in the base, but it's not. Should be a menu feature. What a deal! Inexpensive multi handset system. Packed with features, we especially like the room monitor, speaker phone on each handset, and direct connect feature (lets you use the phones as walkie-talkies away from your home.) I have two of these systems in my house, total of 6 phones, and we use Vonage broadband phone service. These phones are PERFECT for us, and integrate nicely with Vonage(or any other phone company with voicemail.) One touch voicemail access, blinking light message indicator, etc. Truly awesome for the small amount of $ they cost. Excellent Price, Good Quality I have numerous Uniden Cordless Phones in the past, and not had any problems with them. So this time when I was shopping at Target I picked this package up because it was an incrediable value compared to other companies who were charging the same price for only two handsets - and that includes the base. So I get these thing home and they are like mini cell phones: Light up easy to read screen Voice Mail Indicator Caller ID Call Waiting A lot of ring tones Excellent sound quality Battery indicator right on the screen Very light weight Stylish Very easy to use I have no bones with these phones, ya they are not 5.8GHz but I still get good range with them, and it doesn't mess with my wireless internet connection, this is just a great bargain for you dollar!
