Cool Telephone
"GE Designer Series Phone - Curve"
This is a cool design telephone. The design may not be for everyone, but if you like modern styling this is a great design.
All systems was a go when installed, no tech problems. Feedback problems during speaker phone operation with the base was solved by muting the handset.
For the price, this telephone is a great buy.
Feature-rich with a Pleasing, Unique Contemporary Design
Lots and lots to like about this cool looking phone and answering machine.
The model #27950: DECT6.0 Cordless Handset or GE Designer Series Phone - Curve is a surprisingly good unit. Clean, contemporary styling uses matte steel gray color for the body, chrome footing and a light colored wood (not real wood trim) for accents. This phone has all the things that I need from a phone in a stylish package.
Highlights include:
+Handset to handset intercom (*purchase of second phone needed for this function).
+3-way confrencing
+Digital answering machine: use the pre-installed messages or make your own.
+Caller ID (*with caller id service through your provider).
+Answering machine remote access; using security number you can call your machine to retrieve messages.
+Memo: you can leave up to a 2 minute message on your machine for others in the household.
+Speakerphone
+Phonebook: store up to 50, 24-digit numbers, with names.
This phone can be on a tabletop or wallmounted. The included User's Guide is very informative and complete, written in both English and Spanish.
Great sound quality for both the user and the receiver of calls. The handset is narrower than the average cordless phone and feels a bit odd at first, but lightweight and comfortable.
To get started be sure to register your handset! Easy registration of the handset with the base unit is quickly achieved after reading the instructions.
If you have problems with interference, be sure to check what other electronics are nearby. The user's guide also covers this topic. I've not had any interference with this phone, despite having it in a room with two desktop computers and a wireless internet setup out of the same room.
For under $40...you're getting a great deal with this one!
Cute Phone, Not Very Practical
I bought this phone over a year ago. I saw it on amazon, thought it was cute, and purchased it used from a very grateful seller who wrote "Thank You!" on the purchase slip.
I still own and use the phone, and there are many things I like about it. It is very chic and trendy and it perfectly matches the decor of my apartment. But, I must admit that there are a few impractical things about it.
- The caller ID is only visible after you pick up the phone. Maybe it's just me...but I thought the purpose of caller ID was to screen calls of unwanted indivuduals. The fact that I still must answer the phone to discover the caller nullifies this feature.
- The buttons are very small and not very user friendly. In fact, the entire phone is small. (Depending on how you like your electronics the fact that the phone is small could be a bonus.)
- The receiver has a rounded triangular shape that makes it difficult to position it between the head and shoulder for "hands free" mobility.
Why do I put up with this?....you may ask? That's a very good question indeed! Because this phone is just so cute. (Yes I am that shallow!) If the features I've mentioned are deal breakers for you, this phone may not be a wise investment for you.
